MTL Presents YOKKAO 51 brought international Muay Thai to Brisbane’s Nissan Arena, delivering a stacked fight card featuring world title bouts, Australian championship contests, and elite talent from across Australia, Thailand and Canada.

The main event saw Thailand’s rising star Songpayak spoil the homecoming of North Queensland’s Matty Clarke, claiming a unanimous decision victory after five high-paced rounds. Though a loss Clarke shown his ability to mix it with a world class opponent, but Songpayak’s sharp scoring and composure proved the difference.

The co-main event saw Brisbane’s Jonathan Aiulu defeat Canadian Champion Quinn Wasylak by unanimous decision to capture the WBC International Super Welterweight Championship. The pair met for a second time after their first encounter ended in controversy, with Wasylak initially awarded the decision before the WBC later overturned the result and ruled the bout a No Contest due to an incorrect decision.

Five months later, the rematch gave both fighters the opportunity to settle the result inside the ring. Fighting in front of his hometown crowd, Aiulu delivered a commanding performance, dropping Wasylak twice in the second round with heavy punches that forced two eight counts. Despite the knockdowns, Wasylak showed tremendous toughness to recover and battle through all five rounds. After 25 minutes of action, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to Aiulu, crowning him the new WBC International Super Welterweight Champion.

The inaugural YOKKAO Super Bantamweight World Championship produced one of the night’s biggest upsets as Australia’s Bryony Soden defeated Thailand’s decorated Somratsamee via unanimous decision to become the first-ever YOKKAO Super Bantamweight World Champion.

Facing a former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion and multiple-time Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) Tournament Champion, Soden delivered one of the finest performances of her career. Now training out of Strikeforce Gym—one of Australia’s most successful Muay Thai gyms, renowned for producing multiple world champions—Soden has added her name to that prestigious list, capturing the first world title of her career with a composed five-round performance against one of Thailand’s most accomplished female fighters.

One of the night’s biggest moments came as Australian Muay Thai veteran Brodie Stalder closed the curtain on his remarkable career.

Competing in the 82nd and final fight of his professional journey, the multiple-time Australian Champion produced one final memorable performance, defeating Perth’s Moo Doh Soe by unanimous decision to end his career with his hand raised.

North Queensland’s Sunny Mawer continued his rapid rise through the Australian ranks with another highlight-reel finish.

Facing experienced former WMO Australian Champion Andy Juniku, Mawer produced a dominant display before stopping his opponent in the third round via a spinning backfist to capture the WBC Australian Super Lightweight Championship (63.5kg). The knockout victory adds a national title to the young star’s growing resume and further establishes him as one of Australia’s brightest Muay Thai prospects.

Victorious Gym’s Harry McIntyre continued his impressive winning streak, recording the biggest victory of his 15-fight career with a hard-fought decision over Sydney-based German standout Paul Steffens after three exciting rounds.

Fight of the Night honours deservedly went to the all-action contest between Erin “Bumblebee” Harberger and Amanda Juniku, who went toe-to-toe from the opening bell in one of the most entertaining fights of the evening.

Competing at a relentless pace across all three rounds, both fighters traded strikes throughout a thrilling encounter that kept the Brisbane crowd engaged from start to finish. When the final bell sounded, it was Harberger who earned the unanimous decision victory in her return to the ring after nearly two years away from competition.

Elsewhere on the card Cooper Stewart, Whitney Tuna, Ali Pouresmaeil, Cooper Clarke, and Cooper Watt all recorded impressive victories to round out another memorable night for MTL and YOKKAO.
