The Melbourne Pavilion played host to world-class Muay Thai as Outliers Promotions, in conjunction with Rebellion Muay Thai and the Sports Authority of Thailand, brought together elite international and Australian talent for Muay Thai to the World x Rebellion.

In an Australian Muay Thai first, fans were given free entry to a professional Muay Thai event, with the concept proving a huge success as a sold-out capacity crowd packed the Melbourne Pavilion and created an electric atmosphere throughout the night.

Headlining the event was one of Australia’s biggest international Muay Thai matchups of 2026, as two Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) stars collided.

Multiple-time World Champion and Thai star “Baby Shark” Petchdam Petchyindee Academy entertained from the moment he made his iconic “Baby Shark” entrance through to the final bell, producing a high-level performance against Mardsingha Khaolakmuaythai.

After an entertaining battle between the two Thai stars, it was Petchdam who received the split decision victory, closing out a memorable night of international Muay Thai at the Melbourne Pavilion.

Cajaiba Continues Impressive Run

Recently crowned WBC Diamond Champion Luis Cajaiba continued his outstanding run of form with another significant victory, defeating current Omnoi Stadium Champion Boonlert Sor Boonmeerit by decision in the co-main event.

The Brazilian-born former WBC Muaythai World Welterweight Champion, now based in Sydney and representing SRG Thaiboxing Gym, entered the contest following his WBC Diamond World Title victory over legendary Thai star Sitthichai.

Boonlert presented another major challenge for Cajaiba, with the respected Sor Boonmeerit Gym fighter landing a sharp elbow in the second round that opened a cut on the Brazilian. The damage did little to slow Cajaiba down, as he continued to press forward and take the fight to the reigning Omnoi Stadium Champion.

Cajaiba once again showed his quality against elite Thai opposition, overcoming the cut and maintaining his pressure to earn the judges’ decision, adding another major name to his impressive recent run of victories.

Daniel Matthews Defeats Steph Lebreton

Australian prospect Daniel Matthews continued his rise with an impressive decision victory over Madagascar’s Steph Lebreton. Matthews has become a familiar face across the ROOTS and Rebellion circuit and entered the matchup following a Fight of the Night performance in his RWS Muay Thai debut.

Matthews’ fast and powerful left kick proved to be the difference, repeatedly finding the body of Lebreton and visibly hurting the Madagascar fighter on several occasions throughout the contest. Matthews maintained the pressure across three rounds, using his speed and power to control the exchanges and earn a well-deserved decision victory.

The performance also marked Matthews’ first appearance representing his new stable at Bones MMA in Torquay, Victoria, adding another international victory to his growing résumé as he continues his rise through the Muay Thai ranks.

Amir Naseri Makes Statement in Australian Debut

Captain Aun Scores First-Round Knockout

Melbourne-based Thai fan favourite Captain Aun entertained from the moment he entered the arena, dancing his way to the ring before delivering the biggest finish of the night against Australian Bantamweight Champion Fahed Haidar.

Once the bell rang, Captain Aun wasted little time, producing a spectacular head-kick knockout in the opening round to bring the contest to an emphatic end and deliver one of the biggest moments of Muay Thai to the World x Rebellion.

Melbourne Muay Thai favourite Dassakorn Saton faced American prospect Kyler Fordyce, who represents Bangkok’s renowned Sitsongpeenong Gym, in a closely contested international matchup.

The pair battled through three competitive rounds, with neither fighter able to separate themselves on the judges’ scorecards, resulting in the bout being declared a draw.

The event kicked off with a bang as Western Australia’s rising prospect Simba Kojima impressed in his Rebellion debut. Entering just his fourth professional fight, the Fremantle Muay Thai prospect stepped up against the far more experienced 17-fight Matt Packer, securing a decision victory to extend his undefeated professional record to 4-0.

Despite the defeat, Packer showed tremendous heart, weathering the pressure and battling all the way to the final bell. His performance was later recognised with the Rebellion Brave Heart Award, dedicated to the late Tuk McNaught (RIP). The opening contest set the tone for a memorable evening that combined emerging Australian talent with some of the highest-level international Muay Thai currently competing on the world stage.

The ROOTS 33: BAM BAM card also delivered plenty of action earlier in the day, with standout performances from Amir Rezaei, Andoni Uhila, Jack Windsor, Gheslaine Waters and Kiki Kanyarat. The action-packed clash between Nathan Giles and Hasan Elansary was another highlight of the card, with both fighters producing an entertaining back-and-forth contest as ROOTS once again showcased a mix of established names and emerging Australian Muay Thai talent.
