Muay Thai to the World x Rebellion Fight Card & Event Preview
The Melbourne Pavilion hosts an Australian Muay Thai first this Saturday night, with a free-entry professional Muay Thai event showcasing elite international and Australian talent, presented by Rebellion Muay Thai in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand.
Headlining the event is one of Australia’s biggest international Muay Thai matchups of 2026, as two Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) stars collide. Multiple-time World Champion “Baby Shark” Petchdam Petchyindee Academy takes on former MX Muay Thai Champion Mardsinga Khaolakmuaythai in a blockbuster international main event.
The co-main event features another international showdown as Brazil’s recently crowned WBC Muay Thai Diamond Champion Luis Cajaiba, the former WBC Muaythai World Welterweight Champion, faces Thailand’s reigning Thailand Super Welterweight Champion and current Omnoi Stadium Super Welterweight Champion, Boonlert Sor Boonmeerit.
Now based in Sydney and representing SRG Thaiboxing Gym, Cajaiba most recently captured the prestigious WBC Diamond World Title with a victory over Muay Thai legend Sitthichai. Standing opposite him is one of Thailand’s most in-form fighters, Boonlert Sor Boonmeerit, who is currently ranked No. 3 in Rajadamnern World Series (RWS). Representing the renowned Sor Boonmeerit Gym in Bangkok, Boonlert enters the bout fresh off a dominant unanimous decision victory over Iran’s Mohsen Fartofard at RWS.
Another intriguing international contest sees Australian prospect Daniel Matthews take on Madagascar’s Steph Lebreton. Matthews has established himself as one of Australia’s brightest young talents following an impressive Fight of the Night performance in his RWS Muay Thai debut, while Lebreton arrives after defeating Italy’s Gennaro De Meo at RWS. Interestingly, both fighters earned victories over De Meo in their most recent outings, adding another layer of intrigue to the matchup.
Former Omnoi Stadium Champion and Thai Fight Champion Amir Naseri also makes his long-awaited Rebellion Muay Thai debut. Now based in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Naseri faces former WMC and WBC Australian Champion Anthony “The Sniper” Gilbert, with two experienced campaigners expected to deliver an explosive three-round contest.
Blending world-class Thai talent with Australia’s elite and rising prospects, Muay Thai to the World x Rebellion promises to deliver one of Australia’s strongest international Muay Thai showcases of the year.
MUAY THAI MASTERCLASS WITH RWS SUPERSTARS
As part of Rebellion Muay Thai’s Muay Thai to the World weekend, presented by Outliers Promotions in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Australian Muay Thai practitioners will have the rare opportunity to learn directly from some of Thailand’s elite.
Held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on 16–17 August from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the two-day Muay Thai Masterclass will be conducted by three accomplished Thai champions:
- Rittewada Petchyindee Academy – RWS 2023 Welterweight Tournament Winner, former Lumpinee Stadium Champion and former Channel 7 Champion.
- Petchthongchai Sor Sommai – RWS 2024 Super Lightweight Tournament Winner and former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion.
- Kaensak Jitmuangnon – Former Asawindam Champion and four-time Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) competitor.
Together, the trio will share the techniques, strategies and experience that have taken them to the highest levels of Muay Thai, giving Australian fighters, coaches and enthusiasts an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from some of Thailand’s finest athletes.
