Josh King takes out Rebellion 63.5KG Eliminator
Eight men entered as contenders, but Queensland’s Josh King emerged victorious, claiming the title of Rebellion Super Lightweight Eliminator Champion. Achieving three wins in one night, including two finishes, King showcased his relentless pressure and skill throughout the tournament.
In the quarterfinals, King was matched against Victorian local Ben “Wreck It” Higgins. Both fighters came out swinging, but King’s relentless offense overwhelmed Higgins, leading to a standing eight count in the second round. Unable to continue, Higgins saw the fight end via TKO in King’s favor.
In the semifinals, King faced a highly anticipated matchup against former Australian Champion Nick Keros. Both fighters traded heavy blows in an intense battle that went the distance, with King earning a unanimous decision victory to advance to the final.
In the grand finale, King met Perth’s WMC Australian Champion Sam Gardiner, a late entry into the tournament on just eight days’ notice. Wasting no time, King unleashed his signature aggressive style, dropping Gardiner with a powerful combination for a standing eight count. Moments later, King sealed the victory with a stoppage just 27 seconds into the first round, crowning him the Super Lightweight Eliminator Champion.
Josh King’s triumphant night solidifies his reputation as one of Australia’s top Super Lightweights.
