Five of Australia’s best go head-to-head with five of the United Kingdom’s best this Saturday night as Empire Fight Series brings a huge international Muay Thai series to Perth.
With five Australia vs UK matchups across the card, national pride is on the line as some of Australia’s leading champions and rising stars meet an experienced British team featuring World, European and national champions.
TRENT HODGKINSON vs OWEN GILLIS
Australia’s rising star Trent Hodgkinson looks to continue his unbeaten run when he steps into the toughest challenge of his career against the UK’s 2x WMO World Champion Owen Gillis of Masda Gym.
The WBC State Champion and Empire 4-Man Tournament winner has continued to climb through the Australian ranks and enters the contest riding a seven-fight unbeaten streak.
Standing across from him is a proven World Champion in Gillis, presenting Hodgkinson with a major international test on home soil. Can Hodgkinson extend his unbeaten run, or will the experience of two-time World Champion Owen Gillis bring it to an end?
FON PIGGOTT vs MIA SKEER
Two elite female talents collide as Australia’s undefeated Fon Piggott faces England’s Mia Skeer, the current UK #1 and ISKA World Champion.
Piggott has established herself as one of Australia’s exciting undefeated prospects, but now faces the biggest international test of her career against a proven World Champion.
Undefeated Australian vs UK #1. With both fighters looking to make a statement on the international stage, this shapes as one of the most intriguing matchups of the Australia vs United Kingdom series.
DAMON NELSON vs LEVI BAILEY
The two team captains collide as Australia’s Damon Nelson returns to the ring in Perth for the 50th fight of his career.
The former WBC International Champion and multiple-time Australian Champion leads the Australian team against United Kingdom captain Levi Bailey, the reigning WBC British and European Champion.
With a milestone fight for Nelson and two highly credentialed champions representing their countries, the matchup brings plenty of experience to the Australia vs UK series.
CIAN LOUGHEED vs JACK GARCIA
Australia’s former WBC Australian Champion Cian Lougheed is back, representing The Pit against English rising star Jack Garcia, the WMO British and British AM-Pro Champion.
Known for his exciting style, Lougheed brings plenty of experience into the matchup and will look to make a statement on home soil. Garcia arrives in Perth with an opportunity to announce himself against one of Australia’s established names, setting up another exciting international clash.
REECE CORRIGAN vs TYLER HOGAN
Representing Australia, Suay Muay Thai’s Reece Corrigan enters the contest on an impressive run that has seen him capture both the WBC and WMC Australian Lightweight Titles.
Corrigan now faces another international challenge against the UK #3 Tyler Hogan, a multiple-time European and English Champion. The Perth-based Australian has continued to establish himself among the country’s leading Lightweights, but Hogan brings proven championship experience from the UK into what shapes as another high-level matchup.
