Warriors Way returned to Melbourne with a stacked championship card featuring two WMC Australian Title bouts and a WMC Victorian State Title clash at the Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel.

The headline bout belonged to Perth’s Reece Corrigan, who delivered one of the most spectacular knockouts seen in Australian Muay Thai this year. Facing experienced Victorian veteran Chris Nguyen for the WMC Australian Lightweight Title, Corrigan landed a perfectly timed face teep in the opening round that ended the contest in emphatic fashion.

The highlight-reel knockout saw Corrigan add the WMC Australian Lightweight Title to his growing list of achievements, further strengthening his case as Australia’s top lightweight. The Suay Muay Thai product now holds both the WMC and WBC Australian Lightweight Titles, continuing a remarkable rise that has seen him establish himself among the country’s elite fighters.

The highly anticipated WMC Australian Bantamweight Title trilogy clash served as the co-main event, with Wollongong’s Fahed Haidar producing a clinical performance to defeat Victoria’s Kenta Sawa via unanimous decision.

The victory gives Haidar a 2-1 advantage in their three-fight series and sees him crowned the new WMC Australian Bantamweight Champion after five rounds of high-level action between two of Australia’s best bantamweights.

The WMC Victorian Super Welterweight Title bout also delivered drama, as Ring Gym’s Andoni Uhila defeated rising Victorian prospect Mislav Horvat of Hammers Gym.

Uhila’s sharp elbows and aggressive forward pressure caused multiple cuts throughout the contest, eventually forcing a ringside doctor’s intervention. The bout was stopped, awarding Uhila a TKO victory and the WMC Victorian Super Welterweight Championship.

Elsewhere on the card, several Victorian prospects continued their development in front of a passionate Melbourne crowd, highlighting the depth of talent emerging through the state’s Muay Thai scene.

With championship gold changing hands, a knockout-of-the-year contender in the main event, and a trilogy finally settled, Warriors Way 28 delivered another memorable night of Australian Muay Thai action.
