Jonathan Aiulu NEW WBC Oceania Champ, MTL 15 Results
MTL 15 took over Brisbane’s Southbank Piazza last night, delivering a stacked card of Australian and international Muay Thai action in a spectacular venue with world-class production.
In the main event, Brisbane’s own Jonathan “The Prodigy” Aiulu gained redemption over Adelaide’s Matt “The Package” Stevens, securing a unanimous decision victory to claim the WBC Oceania Super Welterweight Title. The bout was a tense, back-and-forth five-round affair, with Aiulu’s composure and precision proving decisive.
The highly anticipated Super Welterweight 4 Man Tournament saw Victoria’s Daniel Matthews rise to the occasion. Matthews outpointed Billy Coulter in the semi-final before overcoming Caleb Curley in a hard-fought final, earning the $10,000 cash prize and the tournament crown. The victory cements Matthews’ position among Australia’s top Super Welterweights.
Gold Coast’s Cassidy Harberfield produced one of the night’s standout performances, rallying in the fifth round to stop Thailand’s Petch Sitmonchai via TKO and secure the WBC Nai Khanom Tom Belt.
In world title action, Japan’s Nadeshiko defeated Brisbane’s Lucy Deadman to capture the WBC World Minimumweight Championship via fourth round doctor stoppage.
MTL 15 once again showcased the depth of talent in Australian Muay Thai, with the full event available to watch on @livecombatsports.
