The main event featured a highly anticipated Australian welterweight showdown between Sydney’s “Cobra” Kai Weate Jones and Gold Coast favourite “Butch” Cassidy Haberfield. Early in the second round, Haberfield landed a powerful left body kick that floored Weate Jones, who was unable to beat the ten count.

The stoppage victory marked a huge result for Haberfield, who defeated the recently crowned WBC Australian Welterweight Champion after Weate Jones accepted the bout on just three weeks’ notice. With the win, Haberfield returns to the winners’ circle and now sets his sights on bigger fights in the Australian welterweight division, including a potential clash with the originally scheduled opponent Albert Tu’ua.

The WMC Queensland Middleweight State Title bout between Strikeforce Gym’s Dylan “Machete” Zanetti and Big Monkey Muay Thai’s Isaiah Heilig lived up to expectations, delivering a relentless five-round battle.

Zanetti began to take control early in the fight, opening a cut on Heilig in the second round before landing a sharp knee in the third that dropped his opponent, with Heilig saved by the bell. Despite showing tremendous toughness to make it through the final rounds, the judges awarded Zanetti a clear decision victory, crowning him the new WMC Queensland Middleweight Champion.

The 72.5kg WMC State Title now returns to the renowned Strikeforce Muay Thai Gym, where previous champion James “Sweet As” Honey held the belt in 2022. Honey was also present on the night, assisting Zanetti in the corner.

Elsewhere on the card, Muay Thai Mulisha’s two-time Australian Cruiserweight Champion Kyl “The Bomber” Juler continued his dominant run, scoring his third consecutive finish with a stoppage victory over Thailand’s Chilli Surpan in the second round.

Both fighters came out aggressively, trading heavy shots early, but Juler’s size and power proved decisive. A series of vicious elbows opened cuts on Surpan before the referee stepped in to stop the contest in round two.

Infliction Fight Series once again delivered an entertaining night of Muay Thai on the Gold Coast, showcasing the depth of talent within Queensland’s fight scene.
